Writing by the Sea
Picture yourself writing on the beautiful south shore of Nova Scotia in September. Picture yourself getting feedback there from one of Canada’s leading editors and one of Canada’s leading authors for young people, feedback that will help you take your current project to new heights of brilliance. The good news is: you may not have to just imagine. Peter Carver and Kathy Stinson are offering their Seaside Writing Workshop/Retreat once again in 2013 - in the week of September 8 to 14 – to six lucky writers dedicated to their craft. They welcome applications from novices and veterans alike. Since this workshop program was launched, several participants have gone on to secure publishing contracts and to see their manuscripts become books. One even won a Governor General's Award for the project she worked on there, and another was shortlisted for a GG. All have gained immensely from the opportunities presented by this workshop.
If accepted, you'll be staying in a 150-year-old renovated farmhouse, with a mile of sand beach a few minutes away, and the famous Keji seaside adjunct a 20-minute drive away. You'll join others in a stimulating five days and six nights all devoted to your writing B with private writing time, stimulating workshops, and personal feedback from Peter and Kathy.
Peter is children's book editor for Red Deer Press, former teacher of Writing for Children for George Brown College, and recipient of the Claude Aubry Award for a distinguished contribution to the field of children's literature. Kathy is the author of a number of highly successful books for a range of young readers, an experienced workshop leader, and editor of children's and adult fiction and non-fiction.
