Bio
Catherine Austen was raised in Kingston, Ontario. She studied Political Science at Queen's University and Environmental Studies at York University before moving to the Ottawa area to work for several conservation organizations. Catherine wrote occasional short stories for adults in her teens and twenties. Her first children's novel, Walking Backward, was published in Fall 2009 by Orca. In 2011, she published her first picture book, My Cat Isis, illustrated by Virginie Egger (Kids Can Press) and two more novels, 26 Tips for Surviving Grade 6 (Lorimer) and All Good Children (Orca), which won the 2012 CLA Young Adult Book Award. Catherine loves almost all forms of nature and art. She lives with her family in a little house with a big yard in Aylmer (Gatineau), Quebec.
