Bio
A fourth-generation Albertan, Karen grew up on a farm, attended the University of Alberta, and received a psychology degree from the University of Victoria. She currently lives in northwestern Alberta with her husband and recently quit managing the local library to write full-time.
Her high school English teacher told her she should write, but it took twenty years before she finally gave it a try. She was instantly addicted. (And has since admitted to her teacher that she was right.)
Karen's first two Young Adult novels explore various aspects of her long-standing fascination with World War Two. She enjoys sharing her knowledge of the time period with readers of all ages. If you bet that the novel she is currently writing touches on World War Two in some fashion, you'd likely be right. The exception to that is her third novel, Drummer Girl, which is a contemporary story. She had so much fun writing it that she might have to try that genre again.
