Professional information

Born: 1953, Baltimore, USA
Family: Husband Toan Klein, children Jesse and Rachel Klein, dog Toby

Born to Canadian parents studying in Baltimore in 1953, Susan Glickman grew up in Montréal, the eldest of four children. She was educated at Tufts University in Boston and Oxford University in England, and spent one blissful year studying amateur archaeology and professional tanning in Greece. She finally returned to Canada in 1977, after a menial job in British publishing, to work for a small press in Toronto. Upon completing her Ph.D at the University of Toronto, she stayed on to teach English and Canadian literature and creative writing until 1993. Since then, while raising two children, several guinea pigs, and a dog with her husband, glass artist Toan Klein, she has taught part-time at Ryerson University, the Lycée Francais de Toronto, the Avenue Road School of the Arts, and Writers in Electronic Residence. She is also a freelance editor, primarily of academic books.
