Professional information

Rob Laidlaw has spent more than 35 years working to protect wildlife in Canada and abroad. He is the founder and executive director of Zoocheck, an international wildlife protection charity. His work has taken him from Canada’s north to tropical Asia and has included many successful campaigns to change wildlife protection policies and laws in a variety of jurisdictions.

Rob is a Chartered Biologist, a former humane society inspector and past Project Manager for the World Society for the Protection of Animals. He is also the author of eight children’s books, numerous book chapters and reports. In 2014 he was awarded the prestigious Federic A. McGrand Award for significant contributions to animal welfare in Canada.

Rob’s recreational pursuits include long distance cycling, "extreme" outdoor activities and reading.
