Biography

Travelled around the world twice with a backpack and crossed borders on foot, by bicycle and on waterskis as well as the conventional ways. Taught for 25 years, in Holland, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, and Zambia (Africa). Loves to meet young people, ski, travel, camp, hike and garden. Quit teaching in 1992 to become a fultime writer. Living in the Rockies' foothills with her border collie and her cat. Can do school visits with her dog (major character in her Summer Series novels) if driving, but without the dog if flying.

Author visits and/or writing workshops. Taught grades kindergarten to adults, but mostly intermediate grades, so can tailor to teachers' needs or give a more general talk about her books, the process of writing, editing, publishing (was on the board of a publishing press) life as a writer vs. a teacher. Storytelling about hair-raising adventures in Africa. PowerPoint presentation of relevant materials included.
