Biography

I was born in New York and grew up in Los Angeles where I earned a degree in elementary education at U.C.L.A. I moved to Toronto in 1970 and began writing professionally while raising my three children. I have written for magazines and newspapers across Canada and in the United States and England and worked as a writer and publcist for corporate and non-profit organizations including B'nai Brith Canada and the United Way of York Region. From 1994-1998 I interviewed Holocaust survivors for Steven Spielberg's Survivors of the Shoa Visual History Project. This experience led to my desire to write about human rights. My lifelong dreamof writing children's fiction came true in 2008 with publication of my junior novel "Ice Cream Town." My next book, "On a Canadian Day" will be published by Maple Tree Press in Fall 2009 and watch for "Design It!" and "Mrs. Kaputnik's Pool Hall and Matzo Ball Emporium" from Tundra in Spring 2010.
