Biography

I did not have books as a child, let alone beautiful picture books. When it came time to read to my children I was captivated by the words and art in picture books. I dabbled with writing for a couple of years while I was busy with other projects and when the timing was right I sent in a submission for Elliot Moose. A year later the series was born and two years after that Elliot became a TV show. Who would have guessed? Elliot Moose was rooted in my years as a toymaker and in a childhood where toys seemed truly alive.

Andrea Beck is the author/illustrator of nine Elliot Moose titles. She has also teamed with her sister Carolyn Beck to create Buttercup's Lovely Day in 2008 and a deliciously gruesome horror story called The Waiting Dog. Andrea will be publishing a new series, Pierre La Poof, in 2009.
