R.R.#2 #7951
Born: April 9th, 1976 oops, I mean 1956, Havant, Hants, England BiographyGlynis, who started on a career path as a nurse, announced to her husband on graduation day that she was great with child. There went any notion of working for five years and settling into the nice white picket fence package. Two children later, she suddenly realized that she didn't like blood. So she took some courses and switched from nursing to teaching. She home-schooled her own children for a zillion years and while she did that, she realized she was gathering fodder for great stories. Glynis also took a myriad of courses on writing and realized that this was something she was destined to do. God was poking her in some interesting directions, she soon discovered. Her publishing career started with the little hometown newspaper and her slice of life, humorous, sometimes inspirational editorials, starting the locals talking. She wrote for this paper for 11 years and was picked up by another paper for eight years. Then, for another paper, she was asked to write a children's column. She did this for four years. One of Glynis's first magazine assignments was to interview the reigning Miss Canada. Her second one was to interview a ritzy-glitzy fashion designer. This was all interesting work and the pay was rather tempting, but the intimidation factor was daunting and really, when Glynis stopped to think about it, she had nothing decent to wear and she realized interviewing big people with big egos was not her thing anyway. Soon she found herself writing for children's magazines, Sunday school take home papers and Christian educational periodicals. She'd found her niche. She also wrote home-schooling articles, devotional material, adult and children's dramas, newspaper articles and short stories for the Chicken Soup series. She presently writes a regular marketing column in a writer's magazine and an online drama column on writing for the stage. Glynis has had two children's books, a play and a drama devotional manual published and has a file stuffed with lots of works in progress. She loves to write both fiction and non-fiction magazine articles but most of all she loves reading to children. Right now, Glynis is turning blue as she holds her breath and awaits news from two publishers. One is looking at her juvenile novel, Broken Wings. The other is considering her Mom's devotional book — Help! I Need a New Fig leaf. Because Glynis's children are all grown up and have flown the coop, her home is too quiet. Her happy hubby is a great guy but he doesn't make a lot of noise. So Glynis sought out some other little people to inspire her and fill her home with peculiar sounds and quirky noises. Now she teaches, privately, children who have either some sort of learning disability or just need a power boost to get cracking on all the tough stuff they teach in school nowadays. Oh, and did she happen to mention she is gathering more fodder for future stories?
