Biography

Cathy was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and has enjoyed writing from the time of her adolescence. She attended the University of Alberta, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French as well as a Bachelor of Education degree in secondary studies. While teaching, she began to write short stories for young adults. Cathy has worked as a creative writing consultant in the schools for the past decade, with the exception of the four years in which her family was transferred overseas to the Sultanate of Oman. While there, she developed a deep desire to write about Canada and, upon her return to Calgary, decided to try her hand at a young adult novel.

Cathy enjoys writing contemporary fiction for young adults as well as historical fiction for middle readers and even dabbles in children's picture books. Much of her ìwritingî is done while running with her golden labrador and she often categorizes her stories according to how many kilometers she runs with them in her mind first. She loves the process of putting ideas into print and then refining them until they take on their own personality. She currently works as an author, creative writing consultant and technical editor.
