Biography

I am an elementary school teacher and the author of fourteen books for young children. I live with my husband Larry and daughter Meghan on a ranch in the rural community of Bridge Lake, B.C. I have five horses, a cat called Cookie and a dog called Robin. Many wild animals live on our ranch as well, including bears, moose, beavers, muskrats, wolves, cougars, skunks, deer and marmots. My interest in writing began when I was a child. An avid reader of The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, I started scribbling my own mystery series at 11 years old. I took a long break from writing when I became a teacher. However, reading wonderful books out loud everyday to young children in schools inspired me one day to give it a try myself - and I’ve never looked back! My first books drew on experiences right out of the classroom and I still find my students a great source of ideas! A story in a magazine about young children immigrating to Upper Canada in the 1800’s sparked my interest to do further research and my historical series on a pioneer family was born. I am currently enjoying the challenge of writing fantasy with my new series Jeremy and the Enchanted Theatre. Never To Be Told is my first novel for older readers. The settings in the novel of the Cariboo in British Columbia and the city of West Vancouver are places I know well and are very special to me. I loved the challenge of blending the two stories of Miranda and Asia, set in such very different times.
