Born: May 23 1927. Poland.
Family: Husband, a mathematics teacher, concert pianist and photographer. Three children.

Biography

Polish born Donia Clenman has resided in Toronto since 1948. In 1986 she added Blumenfeld to her name in memory of her family exterminated during the Holocaust. She is the author of 8 books and more than 200 of her poems have appeared in anthologies throughout the world, and much of her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Chinese, Hungarian and Russian. She is a reader and lecturer who frequently appears on radio and television and has had her own life story documented by the Women's TV Network. Prominent Canadian composers have been inspired to set her poetry to music, including Srul Irving Glick, Walter Buczynski, Milton Barnes and Michael Horwood.
