Biography

Sue Donaldson grew up in Manotick, Ontario. She is an alumnus of Queen's (BAH 1984), UofT (BEd 1989) and Carleton (MA 1995). After several years teaching high school English, she turned to writing full time in 1998. She publishes non-fiction under her real name, and fiction under her pseudonym, Susan Cliffe. Her first Y/A novel, Thread of Deceit, set in Upper Canada in the 1830s, features Lilly McNabb, a milliner, and amateur detective. Sue also writes about veganism and animal rights, and is a regular contributor to Queen's Quarterly of essays on travel, art and religious history.
