Falcone is a former television writer for such series as The Littlest Hobo, The New Monkees! and the hugely popular pre-teen series Are You Afraid of the Dark? She also created and produced the situation comedy pilot Choir Practice starring Susan Anton. Lucy spent ten years writing for television and film in Los Angeles before returning to Canada. She is a former teacher who resigned early in her career to pursue writing. Some colourful odd jobs kept body and soul together: Private Investigator for the Acadia Investigation Bureau, props assistant on a feature film, catering for the television series The Golden Girls and, she once applied for a job as a fish plucker! Lucy loves to travel when researching a new project. She's lived in an Amish community in Pennsylvania and on a sheep farm in England - in the very village where Robin Hood lived! Lucy now makes Toronto her home. She is presently writing juvenile thrillers, the first of which, The Mysterious Mummer, received a Telefilm Canada grant to be adapted into a screenplay. Walking with the Dead won the 2007 Silver Birch Award; the 2007 Diamond Willow Award; and was an Honour Book in the 2007 Manitoba Young Reader's Choice Award. As a former television writer, and now an author, I use videos, novels and picture books to cover the many areas of writing. Some of these include Handy Tips/ Creating Hooks/ Brainstorming/ Editing & Publishing. I also read from my novels and talk about inspiration. |
