Biography

Nan came to writing through storytelling and storytelling through theatre. She has been a professional storyteller since 1984 and a published writer since 1995. She tells stories for all ages drawn from the world of oral literature, and writes stories for children drawn from the emotional memory of childhood. She grew up in Victoria, BC, and though she has lived in Vancouver for more than half her life now, she still considers the rocky bluffs and twisted oaks and arbutus of Vancouver Island to be her true home. In the winter, when she is not writing or storytelling she likes to curl. In the summer, she and her husband take long kayak journeys together along the coast of BC. She has one son, who is the apple of her eye.
