Born: Kansas City, Missouri, February 18, 1940 BiographyDianne Linden grew up in Colorado, and lived in the eastern United States and Germany before moving to Edmonton, which she now considers home. She holds a B.S. degree from the University of Colorado, and an M.Ed. in curriculum studies from the University of Alberta. Dianne initially wrote for adults, but her experience as a public school teacher and consultant, as well as her work with after degree students preparing for a teaching career, prompted her to begin writing for young adults. Shimmerdogs, Thistledown Press, 2008 AwardsPeacekeepers was short listed for the Red Maple Aware, 2005. Peacekeepers was shortlisted for the R. Ross Annett Award for Children's Literature in 2004. (Writers Guild of Alberta.) It was chosen in the same year by Alberta Learning as a recommended novel for Grade Seven. I can combine this with interactive sessions related to how young kids can learn to manage stress, and the power and importance of imagination in reading and personal or fictional writing. I work with libraries, teacher candidates and schools. I also do humorous/motivational speaking at teacher conferences. |
