Biography

I moved around a lot as a child (Montreal, Toronto, Windsor, Toronto) and changed schools frequently. Because every school had new and different ways of doing things, I often found these changes confusing and wished that someone would take the time to properly explain how things worked. Consequently, I developed a passion for clear but detailed communication which led me into writing non-fiction. I edited a trade magazine for booksellers for five years and for the last ten years, I've edited Canadian Children's Book News, the magazine (formerly newsletter) of the Canadian Children's Book Centre. This has given me the opportunity to see the best in Canadian children's writing fiction, non-fiction and picture books and to learn from many talented people.
