Biography
Karen has always loved to draw and read. A telling sentence is written on the back of a photograph of her at 10 months old, "Here is Karen looking at a book. She enjoys books, especially those with pictures of animals in them."
Today Karen enjoys reading, writing, and illustrating picture books; especially those with animals in them. She also enjoys spending time with people of all ages—who like to learn, and are interested in the picture book-making process.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Karen graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honors degree. She continued her studies at the University of Alberta and received a Master of Visual Arts degree in Visual Communication.
Karen lives in Toronto, where she works as an illustrator, author, designer, visual artist, and arts educator.
