Teresa immigrated to Canada as an infant. After completing her M.A. in Political Economy at the UofT, she married and moved to Montreal, where she wrote and broadcast for Radio Canada International. She has also lived and worked in Ottawa and in New York. A little more than a decade ago, she began the pursuit of an obsession--writing for children and teens. Now back in Toronto, Teresa keeps busy writing, conducting creative writing workshops, conference speaking, as a Program Chair for CANSCAIP and volunteering as an ESL tutor for Frontier College. Creative Writing and ESL workshops.Ê Creative originality in writing is best achieved within the constraints of strong, precise writing skills. In a school session, I do readings from my own work, answer students' questions about their struggles with writing and offer particpatory writing workshps with timed exercises relating to specific writing techniques. These often result in astonishingly original work, which I encourage the students to 'perform' for one another.
