A CANSCAIP-focused version of
The Insider's Guide to Getting Published

Canada's oldest and largest conference for building the craft and business of writing, illustrating and performing children's culture has teamed up with Humber to bring CANSCAIPers a specialized PYI follow-up workshop on getting published in the world of children's literature.

Cynthia Good has led her Insider's Guide to Getting Published for thousands of aspiring and established authors, and together with children's publishing expert Vikki VanSickle, they will lead you on a special one-day, highly focused bootcamp for CANSCAIPers looking for a current industry overview backed up by the concrete steps you need to take to get your children's projects published.

Who will benefit most? This workshop is for CANSCAIPers who have yet to be published, as well as for those who have a completed manuscript ready to go out to market. Learn how to get published, and how to market yourself effectively.

During the first three hours of this workshop the speakers will cover the following:
  • an update on issues in Canadian publishing.
  • effective query letters and proposals.
  • self publishing.

The afternoon session will include:
  • the benefits of an online writing community.
  • effective use of social media.
  • time management (writing life versus promotional life).
  • brand management. (Does your image say what you want it to?)
