List of Speakers for Schools and Conferences
CANSCAIP members are often asked to speak about the creative process, read from their work or perform for audiences at schools and conferences.
Teachers and librarians wishing to book writers and illustrators should be aware that CANSCAIP members charge a fee for their professional services. It is important to note that members set their own rates, but in the interests of maintaining a professional level across the country, CANSCAIP suggests the following scale:
School presentations: $150 minimum for one (60 minute) session.
Most members charge between $200 and $300. Some charge more. Some members have a sliding scale for two or more presentations.
Public Libraries: $250 minimum for one (60 minute) session. This is based on the Canada Council rate.
Conferences and workshops: In the range of $400 to $1000. Because these talks have to be written specifically to address a conference theme or workshop topic, they require a great deal of preparation time, and therefore command a larger fee.
For all of the above, GST and travel expenses are over and above the presentation fee.
