Bologna Children’s Book Fair invites you to participate in the " The children-spectators" competition, organized within the framework of the four-year artistic research project "Mapping - A map on the aesthetics of performing arts for early childhood", supported by the European Union.

“Mapping” is dedicated to the relationship between early childhood and performing arts involving 18 partners of 17 countries, including BolognaFiere/Bologna Children's Book Fair and La Baracca - Testoni Ragazzi, Theater for Youth and Children of the city of Bologna .

The initiative in its 2nd Edition is aimed to offer a further opportunity to present and publicize their works by participating in the illustration competition.

Participants will be able to measure themselves on the specific theme of the children as spectators of a performative event (theater, dance, music, etc.) and are requested to submit a single work to be sent in digital format.

The age group considered is early childhood in its different ages (from 0 to 6 years).

The deadline for sending the work in is 18 December 2019

The entry form and the contest’s Rules of entry of the initiative are available on the Bologna Children's Book Fair website at this link

The selected illustrations by a jury of experts will be exhibited at the Theatre Testoni from February 28th to April 2nd, 2020 and become candidates for the final exhibition of the project. This will be composed of the works of 4 important names of the illustration for children invited to participate in "Mapping", as well as the most interesting works among those selected in the four- year project.

Finally, we inform you that participation is free and that the selected illustrators will be sent via email a free entrance ticket to the Bologna Children's Book Fair (30 March - 2 April 2020). The other participants will be sent via email a code to purchase a reduced price ticket (€ 20.00) valid for one (1) admission or the 4-day pass (€ 50.00) valid the entire duration of the event.
