Professional information

Bio
I'm the author of the YA fantasy series Last of the Gifted, Spirit Sight (Book 1) and Water Sight (Book 2), as well as more than 40 children's books and young adult novels with such publishers as Scholastic Education, Amicus, Lerner/ Lightning Bolt, Crabtree, and others.
My award-winning short stories and poetry appear in such literary magazines as subTerrain, Room, and Transition. In addition to running a professional writing business for more than 20 years, I edit manuscripts, teach at the University of Regina and Sask Polytech, and lead writing workshops across the region.
My degrees include a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, along with a Master of Arts, a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communications, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
I’ve also worked as a programmer for preschool and school-aged programs. My training includes teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL), family literacy, journalism, and activity-based programming. As well, I enjoy exploring new technologies, and I work with a variety of tools from traditional print formats to social media.
